City West are fully committed to do everything we can to minimise our impact on the planet and have set the challenge to becoming Net Zero.

Achieving our sustainability goals

Internally, we will achieve this by electrifying our fleet, launching lower carbon services and to further support our ambitions, we will encourage our staff to use public transport for work purposes, as well as the Cycle2Work scheme to encourage employees to use a bike as their mode of transportation to commute to and from their workplace.

To underpin our sustainable approach, we have taken the key elements from the United Nations Sustainable Development goals in line with our forthcoming Planet Mark accreditation:

Planet Mark

We have started our journey to achieve the Planet Mark accreditation

The Planet Mark is a sustainability certification for every type of organisation, for real estate and for products. The certification recognises continuous improvement, encourages action and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals who will make a world of difference.

They enable organisations and their people to positively transform society, the environment and the economy through measurement of their carbon and social data, using a unique three-step process:

Measure, Engage and Communicate.

As a result of rigorous measurement, a commitment to improvement and engaging stakeholders in the process, we can communicate our progress with confidence, transparency and enthusiasm.

We’re committed to creating a brighter planet.

Waste Management

Through our approach to managing your waste on site and using our network of waste management service partners we can increase you recycling rates and divert waste from landfill whilst making your operation carbon neutral.

Cleaning Chemicals & Consumables – we use ‘waster based’ cleaning systems & eco-friendly chemicals to carry out our cleaning tasks. All of our suppliers share in our environmental ambitions & our washroom paper products are all manufactured from recycled materials.

Social Value

We believe that every firm, from the smallest market trader to the largest multinational corporation, can do something to help others and make a worthwhile contribution to their local community.

Such an involvement can be anything from a donation of time, money or resources, or may constitute a wider contribution, such as setting up long-term projects or campaigning on and supporting a certain issue that is affecting people in the area.

We align our service to support the community around our clients and to measure this we use the Social Value Portal. This measures and manages the contribution that we makes to society, according to the principles laid out within the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012.

Our solutions always allows for non-financial & financial data and rewards organisations for doing “more good” in the community.

We’ve already started to support the community, with initiatives that can be measured as part of our social value with donations to Fairshare & supporting foodbanks we are keen to keep the momentum moving forward positively. This is also evidenced through our intention to engage with the governments Kickstart programme for new starters on a number of our contracts.
