SUSTAINABILITY & SOCIAL VALUE

City West is fully committed to minimising our impact on the planet and to becoming Net Carbon Zero.

Sustainability

Achieving our sustainability goals

Internally, we will achieve this by electrifying our fleet, reducing waste and launching lower carbon services. To further support our ambitions, we are encouraging our staff to use public transport for work purposes, or to use a bicycle for their commute, as part of the Cycle2Work scheme.

To underpin our sustainable approach, we are focusing on key elements of the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. We have identified the areas where we can have the most impact and the objectives and key results for our Business Sustainability Strategy.

Planet Mark

We are Planet Mark Certified

The Planet Mark is a sustainability certification for every type of organisation, for real estate and for products. The certification recognises continuous improvement, encourages action and builds an empowered community of like-minded individuals who will make a world of difference.

We are using the Planet Mark Measure, Engage, Communicate methodology to strengthen our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and set credible net zero carbon targets. Through rigorous measurement, a commitment to improvement and engaging all stakeholders in the process, we will communicate our progress with confidence, transparency and enthusiasm.

Waste Management

Through our approach to managing your waste on site, and using our network of waste management service partners, we can increase you recycling rates and divert waste from landfill, helping to make your operation carbon neutral.

Cleaning Chemicals and Consumables. We use chemical-free cleaning systems or eco-friendly chemicals to carry out our cleaning tasks. All of our suppliers share in our environmental ambitions and our washroom paper products are all manufactured from recycled materials.

Social Value

We believe that every firm, from the smallest market trader to the largest multinational corporation, can do something to help others and make a worthwhile contribution to their local community.

We align our service to support the community around our clients and to measure this we use the Social Value Portal. This measures and manages the contribution that we make to society, according to the principles laid out within the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012.

City West is working with employees, clients and suppliers to deliver social value to our communities. We support local charities, including FareShare and Young Minds and provide our staff with fully funded volunteering days.

We have engaged with the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, providing placements for young people at risk of long-term unemployment, and are delighted to have provided full employment through this valuable initiative.
